To know anything in life we all must assume something. The creation scientist assumes the Bible's creation story is literally true. The evolutionist assumes that God does not exist so life must have evolved. Supporters of intelligent design assume that if God created life, He would have left some evidence that we can observe if we look.

When evolutionists study an improbable evolutionary event or speculate about self replicating molecules in the primordial soup, they ignore thermodynamics and probability theory and instead make statements about how old the earth is and how big the universe is to justify thier views. Their assumption that God does not exist allows them to do so. In contrast, supporters of intelligent design calculate the odds of the improbable event happening, compensate for the age and size of the universe and then decide whether or not it could happen. With this approach, we will see that the origin of life is a complete and total mystery and that evolution can not explain the origin of many genes and proteins.
