This is really more of a photo gallery than a trip report. The Galapagos
are known for some of the best diving in the world. It is the best I have seen.
On this trip, I encountered my first hammerheads, galapagos sharks, sea lions,
batfish, penguins, manta rays, golden rays, and of the course the whale shark.
Darwin and Wolf are known as the best dive spots, but as far as I can tell
how could it be any better than the day trips right off of santa cruz. Make sure
to check out the underwater slideshow and videos to see more marine creatures.
I am going back in December 2006 so check back for more pictures and videos.
Before you decide to go, diving in the Galapagos is not for everyone.
The water is cold, the currents are strong and unpredictable
(much stronger than Cozumel), the boat rides are long, and the visibility is not
great. But then of course you can't dive with the creatures listed above in the
caribbean. This is why Galapagos diving is better.
Now the pictures:
Darwins Arch in outside of the Darwin Research Center on Santa Cruz.
The island of floreana from the dive boat. Site of the best diving.

Golden Land Iguana
Manta Rays are common in the galapagos.
This one was attracted to my camera's strobe and
it stayed with us for the entire dive. This was at Daphne Minor.
Marine iguana warms up on a rock
The best part of my trip. A 40 foot whale shark showed
up at Floreana. I have dove everywhere looking for one of these
and have never seen one until I took these pictures.
